After seeing a Facebook post about seven orphaned siblings, Pam Willis felt compelled to act. In 2019, upon hearing their story, she couldn’t ignore the reactions surrounding the seven children and realized it was the right time to embrace the responsibilities of motherhood.
Aged 1 to 12, the children spent nearly a year in foster care after losing both parents in a car accident. When Pam shared the idea with her husband Gary Willis, she expected him to think she was insane. While already adoptive parents to five children, they hadn’t discussed adopting more.
Both decided to contact the number mentioned at the end of the report. After four months, Adelino, Ruby, Aleecia, Anthony, Aubriella, Leo, and Xander became familiar with Pam and Gary. During conversations, Pam learned about the children’s challenges, often stemming from their parents’ drug-related problems, resulting in frequent relocation.
Despite unimaginable difficulties, Pam found it easy to establish a connection, recognizing the older children’s struggles to trust adults. Ruby, the second oldest, had assumed a maternal role for her younger siblings, lacking the experience of a traditional childhood.
The initial six months were challenging, marked by frequent nightmares and sleep disturbances. Pam, checking on her seven-year-old son one night, discovered the impact on their sleep. In August, Pam and Gary revealed their decision to adopt all the children during a wedding attended by their biological children, aged 30 to 32. The event, with a large TV in the garden to prevent Covid, added joy to the Willis family and beyond. Pam acknowledges that their second chance at parenthood stems from their adoption, adding happiness to the world through the new additions to the Pam and Gary Willis family.”
